History
The Livadi tou Geranou (meadow of Geranos). One of the most beautiful, pristine beaches of Patmos that attracts loyal lovers of this untouched by “development” area every summer.
Suddenly, at the beginning of the summer of 2022, a series of wooden electric lighting pylons appeared along the entire length of the path that has now been widened to serve wheeled vehicles.
Given that the beach has no residences, except for a canteen that has been converted into a tavern, it was reasonable for citizens to wonder about the intentions behind the electrification.
The path is now visible from Skala at night and the natural landscape has been brutally abused.
This fact should be taken together with two past attempts, by the Municipality, to place umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach, a plan that was thwarted thanks to the persistent and effective mobilizations of active citizens.
Our concern about the plans of would-be evildoers in the area is reasonable, and we remain vigilant guardians of one of the earthly paradises of Patmos.
